Warner Brothers released a new trailer for It Chapter 2, the third film adaptation of the ’80s cult classic novel by Stephen King, and…it gave us a serious case of the “nope”s (in the best way possible).
It Chapter 2 follows the second adaptation of the book that was released in 2017, It, which was a hit among horror and non-horror fans alike. The first installment, Stephen King’s It, was released in 1990 starring Tim Curry as the demon clown, Pennywise.
In the beginning of the new trailer, we see a grown-up Beverly (Jessica Chastain) returning to her childhood home. Expecting to find her estranged father, Beverly finds an elderly Mrs. Kersh instead (I love horror, but two things I do NOT do: old people and children) and she’s invited to come inside and look around. After the old lady tells her with a big smile on her face, “You know what they say about Derry? No one who dies here ever really dies,” Beverly looks at Kersh’s family photos on the wall and figures out that sweet Mrs. Kersh is actually a disguised Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård).
Later in the clip we follow the now-adult members of The Losers’ Club as they reunite to stop Pennywise and his evil torments for good, with some childhood flashbacks included for good measure. The clown fighting gang includes Beverly, Bill (James McAvoy), Richie (Bill Hader), Ben (Jay Ryan), Eddie (James Ransone) and Mike (Isaiah Mustafa). RIP Georgie.
It Chapter 2 comes to theaters September 6. Watch the trailer below if you dare!
